Do you allow campfires?
Each of our sites (all site types) are equipped with their very own fire pit. Fires must be put-out before retiring for the evening. Outside firewood is not allowed but can be purchased while here at our on-site convenience store.
What are your hours of operation?
Our resort camping season is May 1 – Oct 31. The offices are open daily from 9am-5pm out of season (November- April 30), 9am-6pm during peak season (May 1 – October 31). Sherkston Security patrols the resort 24/7 365 days/yr. They can be contacted by calling 905-658-0911.
How Do I Get to Sherkston?
Directions from HAMILTON/ TORONTO: Take the QEW South (past Niagara Falls) towards Fort Erie. Exit Sodom Road. Take Sodom Road South to Stevensville to Highway #3. Take Highway #3 West and follow signs to Sherkston Shores.
Directions From BUFFALO/ U.S.A Take the 190 to the Peace Bridge into Canada. Cross bridge and follow the QEW a short distance to Thompson Road. Exit on Thompson Road and follow until the lights at Highway #3.Turn right on Highway #3 and follow signs to Sherkston & Empire Road. Turn left on Empire Road and follow it to the Resort.

What is the minimum age required to reserve at the Resort?
Guests must be over the age of 25 to reserve a campsite or vacation cottage at the Resort. We will not take bookings from individuals under the age of 25 years of age. Sherkston reserves the right to decline or terminate a booked holiday if any stated rules are in violation. No refunds or return vouchers will be issued. All adults in the party must be over the age of 25 and must show proof of age at the time of check-in.

Do you provide financing?
Yes, we have several different financial institutions to finance vacation cottages at the Resort, with rates as low as 5.99%. Contact the Sales Team for more details - 1-844-894-7300.
Can we rent our vacation cottage out to cover our costs?
Absolutely! A large percentage of our vacation cottage owners rent their cottages through our rental program or to friends and family. Contact our Vacations Manager for more information by emailing email@example.com
I have an RV; will you take it in trade?
We will take your RV, motor home or fifth wheel in trade. Simply choose the vacation cottage you wish to purchase and we will work out the cost to change for you. Leave it all up to us!
Can we choose where our site is located within the resort?
We have a range of locations guaranteed to suit all tastes. Each family has different requirements. We will guarantee the type of site you have rented at time of reservation, however, the exact site # will be provided at time of check-in.
What time is check in/out?
Check in time for RV and Camp sites is any time after 12 noon. Check out is 11am.
Check-in time for Vacation Cottage Rentals is 4pm unless you have purchased a Premium Package. Check out is 10am.
Rustic Cabin check-in time 2pm, checkout time is 11am.
On arrival and departure days, you have full use of the Resort amenities and entertainment. You are welcome to arrive and depart as you like from the property. **Late check outs will be charged a full day's rate.
Is use of the amenities and entertainment included or do I have to pay extra?
The use of Resort amenities, outdoor sports courts, beaches, pools, hot tubs, waterslides, FunPlex entrance and entertainment is included when reserving through Sherkston Shores! If sports equipment is required this can be provided for a rental fee based upon duration of usage. We do have some features such as rock climbing and a few others which do have extra costs attached.
I am travelling from the United States, what documentation do I require at the border?
Have proof of citizenship readily available including two forms of identification with at least one photo ID. Have birth certificates for each child in your vehicle. If travelling with children who are not part of your immediate family, have a note of proof that the child has permission to cross the border with you. For re-entry into the US all travelers require a passport.
I am staying in a Vacation Cottage Rental, what am I required to bring?
Each Vacation Cottage Rental comes fully equipped with all kitchen items, Cable TV, deck, firepit, picnic table, AC/Furnace, pillows and blankets. View the full Rental Inventory List here. You need to travel with your own linens, towels, toiletries, food, small grill or BBQ, beach chairs, umbrella and FUN! Via email after your reservation has been made, we do send a "What's Next" letter that includes a helpful check list of what to bring for your vacation.
Why do I need a $300 Security Deposit when renting a Vacation Cottage?
We take a pre-authorized $300 amount for security reasons on check-in day. This is to protect the investment of our vacation owner's property and company property. It is only processed if malicious or purposeful damage is done to the Vacation Cottage or Resort. It is held in pre-authorization pattern on your credit card during your holiday. It should never appear on your statement unless detailed in the above circumstances.
Does my Vacation Cottage Rental or camp site have telephone/internet access?
If you need to be contacted in case of emergency, interested parties can call 1-800-263-8121 and a message can be delivered to your Vacation Cottage or camp site. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee wireless internet, however there are WIFI hotspots throughout the park
I am staying at the Resort, am I allowed to have guests?
Each of our cottage rentals and campground sites accommodate a maximum of 6 reserved guests at time of booking. Only guests reserved in Vacation Cottages for 1 full week are issued two complimentary passes one time only while staying in the Resort. All other visitors are required to pay entrance to the Resort based upon what they will be accessing for the day.
Are pets allowed at the Resort?
We are breed specific, allowing only non-aggressive pets to be brought on holiday. They must remain on a leash at all times, with the owner responsible for clean up at all times. Select vacation rentals are 'pet friendly', however a pet fee of $69.00 will be added to the cost of your holiday. Please let us know at time of reservation to ensure you are reserved in the correct type of home.
Are golf carts included in the cost of booking?
We do not allow outside golf-carts to be brought onto the property for vacationers. Birdie Golf Carts is a separate company from Sherkston Shores Resort however they are on-site. They do provide rentals for our Resort guests. They can be reached at 905 894 3113. During peak times is it suggested to phone them in advance of your arrival date for reservations.
How old do I have to be in order to drive a golf-cart in the resort?
All Golf cart operators must have attained the age of 16 and have a valid Class G Drivers License (or equivalent if from other province or country). Valid Driver’s License must be shown at time of check-in. If any person is found driving under the age of sixteen or without this type of drivers license, the golf cart will be confiscated and the vacationer will be fined by the resort.
Do you allow boats on the property and do you allow fishing?
Boats/watercraft with motors over 3hp require valid proof of insurance $1 million Canadian or $300,000.00 US. Boats can be docked right at the beach.
Lake Erie has some of the best fishing in Ontario – perch, bass, walleye. Fishing in Lake Erie does require a fishing license and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry set limits of fish, see rules here.
You can also fish in our Quarry which is strictly ‘catch and release”.
