Tampa is only 20 miles from Sweetwater RV Resort, a distance that makes the city a good destination for sightseeing outings. We recommend the museums and historical attractions.

Henry B Plant Museum

The Henry B Plant Museum will take you back in time, providing a glimpse into how society’s upper crust lived in the late 1800s. It is housed in the former Tampa Bay Hotel, which is now home to the University of Tamps. The depository exquisitely displays opulent furnishings that were purchased on buying trips to the Orient and Europe in their original rooms. It also features exhibits that pertain to the early years of Tampa and the beginning of the Florida tourist industry, as well as the role of the hotel in the Spanish American War.

Tampa Bay History Center

Three floors of exhibits await you at the Tampa Bay History Center, a Smithsonian Institute Affiliate. Its engaging, interactive displays provide an interesting educational experience that includes everything from Florida’s early settlers’ period to the present day. The facility’s setting by the river is lovely, and its Columbia Café makes a nice spot for lunch or dinner. All ages will enjoy a visit to this attraction.
