Spring weather is upon us and it’s time to get out of the house after the long cool winter. So let’s visit some local markets that are combined Farmer’s and Flea Markets. There are two wonderful markets, each with distinctive products, within 30 minutes of Sun premier RV Resorts, including Country Squire.
Mt Dora Village Market features many wonderful food products, crafts, and even entertainment. Of course there’s many premier, fresh produce options including lettuce and herbs grown fresh even in winter. Vendors vary at times but your likely to find unique kitchen items like citrus salts, and infused flavored oils and vinegars (from Mt. Dora Olive Oil). Watch for posters that provide tips on the benefits of various herbs, or what it means to eat a “paleo diet.” Non-food items include bath salts, pottery, handmade jewelry and other crafts. While you’re there check out Rice Shack USA, a vendor who sells rice cookers, and you’ll learn of recipes for dishes other than rice. Musicians entertain while you browse, and storytellers are often found at the market. Check their Facebook page for more information and great photos.
Located at Elizabeth Evans park at the south end of Donnelly street past Lakeside Inn. Open Sundays from 9am-2pm.
If you’re in the market for tools, or searching for a bargain on musical instruments, head south on Highway 19 to Eustis. The Lake County Farmers & Flea Market, at the Fair Grounds is open Thursdays from 8:00AM to 1:30PM from October through May and from 8:00AM to 12:00PM June through September. Expect lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, plus a wide variety of flowers and plants. Be sure to pick up some locally harvested honey, and fresh seafood from the Gulf and Atlantic Ocean. Vendors also offer additional products ranging from jewelry, to clothing, toiletries, and home decor. There are numerous food concessions and live music by talented local musicians.
