Top 5 reasons to give Fall camping a try at Sherkston

September 28, 2017

By Darren Arcaro

The Fall camping season at Sherkston Shores Beach Resort gives visitors a perfect opportunity to enjoy Niagara in a way that can’t be experienced any other time of year.

The landscape is bathed in colour. Vineyards and fruit farms are busy harvesting their crops. And the heat and humidity of summer are replaced with crisp, comfortable temperatures that seem custom-made for hiking, checking out the sights and exploring.

While fair-weather campers may bristle at the thought of spending a weekend outdoors after Labour Day, there are a lot of benefits to camping in the Fall. Here are some of them:

  • Temperatures in Niagara drop in the Fall, but they are still much more comfortable than in northern parts of the province at this time of year. Days in the mid-teens and low 20s are perfect for hiking, biking or sitting out around a campfire with family and friends. Coolers days and nights also mean the end of mosquitoes and other bugs. When planning your trip to Sherkston Shores, don’t forget to bring along your bikes. Did you know that the main road into Sherkston Shores connects with the Friendship Recreation Trail which spans 150 km of the Niagara Peninsula? • The large crowds of tourists that come to Niagara during the summer thin out significantly in the fall. That allows visitors to check out attractions near us — such as Niagara Falls or Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake — more easily with fewer line-ups and less need to book things in advance.
  • Niagara loves to celebrate the Fall. There are numerous festivals and events scheduled throughout the season, such as the Balls Falls Thanksgiving Festival and the Niagara Wine Festival. Or even better, the Fall Fairs in Niagara are a great time for the whole family to experience foods, drinks, petting zoos, and rides. The Welland Fall Fair will be held at the Niagara Regional Exhibition on Sept. 15-17, 2017. Wainfleet has their own Fall Fair Sept. 23-25 2017. A short drive from Niagara, you can experience the famous Norfolk County Fair October 3-9, 2017 or the Rockton Worlds Fair October 6-9, 2017.
  • The change in weather doesn’t change all the fun you can have right here at Sherkston. We’ve got plenty for everyone to do, including relaxing on our beach, volleyball, soccer, mini-golf, an aerial challenge course and a rock climbing wall. Check out all on-site amenities here.

Still seeking that perfect Fall getaway with the family? Save 30% off your Fall stay this season here at the beach. Fall is a fantastic time of year to experience a different side of Niagara. Enjoy the crisp, cool weather and fall colours, take advantage of fall festivals, visit award winning wineries, explore hiking and biking trails, or just cozy up to a warm evening campfire.

Perhaps you are looking for the perfect weekend away for Thanksgiving still? Save 30% this Thanksgiving 2017 here at the beach. What better way than to spend it outdoors with a friendly game of football during the day along the beach, an outdoor family turkey dinner (here are some great Fall recipes), followed by a cozy gathering around the campfire to roast S’mores.

A campers dream, our Lake Erie Resort offers tent sites, RV sites, cabin rentals, rental cottages, seasonal RV stays, and seasonal vacation cottage ownership. Sit back and relax at the beach, swim in the quarry, play volleyball, soccer or take part in a round of mini-golf or try climbing our Aerial challenge course or rock wall.
