Come to the anglers’ utopia of Pelican RV Resort, where you can spend many blissful hours fishing from a pier at our secluded waterfront. Aside from fishing and other water sports, you can enjoy various community events such as a beach party, guitar festival and art walk in the coming days.

Lobster season is also on the horizon. The mini season is scheduled for July 26 and 27, and the regular season starts on August 6.

Marathon Beach Party

Plan to be in here on the Fourth of July to celebrate out country's independence at the local Beach Party. The festivities get underway at 10:30 a.m. with a parade that starts at Marathon High School and ends at Sombrero Beach. Entertainment, food and kids crafts are scheduled for the afternoon, and a dazzling fireworks display will cap off the event after dark. As many consider Marathon to be the boating destination of the Keys, hundreds of boats will be at the beach.

Guitar Festival

Head over to the Florida Keys Country Club in Marathon on June 3 to attend the annual Guitar Festival. Music genres will include classical, Latin and contemporary, so the performances offer something for everyone. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Third Thursday Art Walk

Don’t miss the Third Thursday Art Walk on June 15 in nearby Islamorada. This indoor-outdoor street festival draws visitors from all over South Florida, who can browse through the art, pottery, sculptures and jewelry while enjoying live entertainment. Hours are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the location is the Art District.
