Stuart Sailfish Regatta - May 2017
Bob and I decided to try out Ocean Breeze Resort's "Park & Play" special this year...and are we glad we did! There is so much to see and do here, and we love the flexibility of "dropping anchor" in one place. Having no memberships fees and a full-site hookup (including electric, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi) is so convenient--we are looking forward to all this new-to-us place has to offer.
And what a place it is! It has everything we could possibly want to truly enjoy ourselves, no matter how active or leisurely we want to be. As for location, it could not be more convenient--we are within walking (and/or golf cart) distance to all the shopping, eating, and entertainment lovely downtown Jensen Beach has to offer, as well as access to both enjoy the stunning view and get out to explore the wonder that is the Indian River intracoastal waterway. They aren't kidding when they suggest bringing your canoe, kayak, or bike--you will definitely be glad you did! Not to mention all the lovely towns within 15 minutes or so to explore for more shopping, dining, and special events.
That is just what is available outside of the park--there are so many ways right here in the park to make friends, meet your neighbors, and get involved. I love all the options--Bob isn't as social as I am, but I am looking forward to checking out the volunteer opportunities, get-togethers, music events, and other social activities they offer.
This place is a little piece of Paradise for us to savor all season--heck, we may just become one of the many year-rounders here at Ocean Breeze just so we can try all the fun things they offer! Additionally, they are building a brand new pool and 4,800 square foot amenity center--WOW! Be sure to check back as I may post some pics of their progress.
Once Bob and I got our bearings, we decided for our first big adventure to check out the Stuart Sailfish Regatta--an annual event held in nearby Stuart, to benefit several local charities, raise awareness of environmental issues, and promote tourism. We love to enjoy all the Treasure Coast has to offer, as well as give back to the community, so this sounded like a perfect fit for us.
Let me start by saying there was something for EVERYONE, of all ages: yummy food, cool drinks, "kid zones", live music, and of course all the exciting boat races. If you love the thrill and excitement of high-speed action (I do not, but Bob sure had a good time!), be sure to find a good spot in the spectator area on top of the bridge to see the powerboats, hydroplanes, and race boats zip and zoom by. There are trolleys and golf carts available to shuttle you around--they sure came in handy for us later in the day.
Stuart really put on a good show--I heard they are also hosting something next month called the "Rockin' Riverwalk"...I think we will have to make the very short trip back here to get our groove on (Bob has quite the moves...don't let him fool you!).
After a day of fun, sun, inboards and outboards, we were ready to head back home to Ocean Breeze Resort for some peace, quiet, AC and Wi-Fi. Since we were so close, it was easy to get home and settle back for some peace and quiet.
