Springtime in Algonquin Provincial Park

The loveliness of Canadian springtime is showcased in a wonderful way at Algonquin Provincial Park. This oasis of tranquil beauty is approximately an hour’s drive from Deer Lake RV Resort, which makes it a perfect destination for an outing.

Those who visit the park during May can enjoy trout fishing and moose watching. They can also savor the visual feast of wildflowers, as well as the seasonal kaleidoscope of hues, such as white cherry blossoms, soft green leaves of Trembling Aspen and silvery foliage of Largetooth Aspen. Imagine how nice it would be to picnic amid this splendor.

Recreating in the park will be most rewarding. Options include swimming, canoeing, whitewater rafting, biking and boating. Hikers can choose from quite a few interpretive trails, each of which comes with a guide booklet.

The park hosts various events, one of which is the Wildlife Research Weekend on May 26 to 28. This three-day workshop will offer a good opportunity to learn about the area’s plants and animals.

Plan to spend a whole day here, so you can see the exhibits in the Visitor Centre, Logging Museum and Art Centre. Before you leave, you may want to pick up a souvenir at the gift shop. The address is Ontario 60, Ontario K0J 2M0.
