Shady Pines RV Resort is close to Historic Smithville, an attraction filled with an array of delights. You can spend a wonderful day wondering through the area, enjoying all the charming amenities, shops and eateries.

Historic Smithville

To start your morning, grab a fresh-baked pastry at the Smithville Bakery. Children of all ages will want to ride the train, which runs every day throughout the summer. Next, rent a paddle boat and go on a scenic ride around Lake Meone. Also, don’t miss the opportunity to ride the lovely carousel.

Browse through the quaint shops with names that beckon visitors such as Fairest of Them All, The Pink Corset, Country Folk, Honey Pot, Crafting Cellar, Evermore Herb Company, Smithville Country Store and many more. Kids can pick up chocolates or stick candy at the Village Sweet Shoppe.

The attraction hosts events throughout the year. On August 13, they will have a Living History Encampment, which consists of musket-firing demonstrations and marching drills.

If you want to have a nice dinner in a restaurant with wonderful ambiance, eat at the Smithville Inn. The oversized fireplace, natural wood beams, hardwood floors and candle lamps will provide a nostalgic setting for a memorable meal. Try the chicken potpie or French onion soup.
