Many cities along Florida’s Gulf Coast boast the best beaches in the state, or even best in the world. Naples, Florida has a tropical stretch of pristine shoreline that rates up there with the best. Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, located on Naple’s Gulfshore Drive, is convenient to Marco Naples residents and offers guided tours and lectures to enhance your beach experience.
Join park rangers for a walk on the pristine beaches as they help visitors discover beach treasures. This is a great interactive event that helps identify sea shells, learn about local sea creatures, and how they are affected by tidal movement. Beach Combing sessions are schedules for Feb 24th at 11am and Feb 25th at 9:30am. You can help the Gulf Coast eco-system by learning about a local endangered species and what you can do to help protect them. Golpher Tortoise Talk, on Feb 26th at 9:30-10:30 am, is all about the park’s shy “keystone species” and their habitat. These talks are free with regular park admission ($6 per vehicle, $4 if single occupant). The park’s website has information on accessibility and future session dates.
If you’ve never experienced yoga, what better place than the beach for your first lesson? Join instructor Candice Oligney from Green Monkey Yoga for this all-ages gentle yoga class while the sun prepares to set over the gulf. The next Sunset Yoga session is on 25th from 5:15 to 6:15pm. There is a $5 charge in addition to the regular park admission fee.
Adventure awaits on the waters as you snorkel the reef for underwater treasures, or fish for Pompano, Spanish Mackerel and Sea Trout. Rent paddleboards, kayaks, or canoes to explore the delicate natural estuaries of Turkey Bay and the Cocohatchee River. A concessionaire, Naples Beach Adventures, is open in parking Lot #4 with food, beverages and rentals. Check the website for information about guided tours, interpretive programs, and other scheduled events.
When you stay at Marco Naples Sun RV Resort you’re only steps away from island seclusion or the untamed tropical wilderness of the Everglades. After exploring the wilderness or conquering the championship golf courses it’s nice to know you can relax in the heated pool, or join the pool parties at the resort’s Tiki Hut. Gather with friends for shuffleboard, bocci, horseshoes, crafts, poker, and other social pursuits. Regular movie nights are popular especially with popcorn from the theater-sized popcorn maker.
