Homosassa River RV Resort is 30 miles from Floral City, a town that will host Heritage Days on December 2 and 3. The celebration promises to be a fun time of Christmas activities, food and music, as well as an opportunity to see how people lived in bygone years. It will have the flavor of an old-time Florida family get-together. The address is 8394 E Orange Avenue.
Festivities on Friday night include an all-you-can-eat fish fry along with rides in horse-drawn wagons down an avenue lined with luminaries. Attendees can also sing carols from the porches of lovely homes. Visitors are encouraged to bring a flashlight to prevent falls. Hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday is Folk Life Day, an event that involves the following components:
- Historic home tour
- Country food: barbecue chicken, corn on the cob, boiled peanuts, kettle corn, funnel cakes, homemade lemonade, hoppin’ John and sweet potato pie
- Folk music
- Model A Club’s antique auto parade
Aside from the $10 charge for the home tour, admission is free. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Country Store and Heritage Museum will be open all day.
