Come to Pennsylvania Dutch Country, a picturesque area of covered bridges, neatly painted farmhouses and patchwork-quilt pastures. Lake in Wood Resort will make a good home base when exploring this restful community.
To get an overview of the area, we recommend taking a tour such as one offered by Brunswick. The company offers a self-guided tour as well as private guides that will accompany you in your car.
An array of museums in Lancaster County will provide a fascinating glimpse into the Amish way of life. One of our favorites is the Amish Village in nearby Strasburg. Here, you can tour an 1840s farmhouse and the surrounding 12-acre grounds that include a one-room schoolhouse.
Don’t leave the area without sampling Amish cuisine, which is known for its hearty, savory dishes and melt-in-your-mouth baked goods. Sadie’s Bake Shop in Narvon is a place to try standards like shoofly pie, sticky buns and other made-from-scratch goodies.
Pennsylvania Dutch Country boasts antique, flea and farmers’ markets, along with attractions like Shartlesville’s Roadside America, a miniature village depicting an idyllic small town in our nation.
This part of the country is also rich in wonderful historical attractions. The Gettysburg Battlefield lies in Hershey, while Valley Forge National Park is in Strasburg. Philadelphia is an easy drive, and it’s worth the trip there to see the Liberty Bell.
Lake in Wood RV Resort
The extensive grounds of our RV park in Pennsylvania are a lovely setting for family fun. You can fish or go boating in the onsite waters. We also have facilities for sports activities that include mini golf, basketball, softball, volleyball, quoits and shuffleboard.
Yet there’s more. Other options involve hiking along the fitness trail, playing pool and doing ceramics. Perhaps the cherry on top of this camping sundae are the planned events such as Barbecue Weekend, Olympics Weekend and Chili Cook-Off Weekend.
