Many area residents are of Scottish heritage, and aspects of the culture have been preserved and celebrated here down through the years. Those who live at Dunedin RV Resort can savor the wonderful sights and sounds of this ethnicity at the Highland Games & Festival.

The events start on March 31 with a parade that will conclude in Pioneer Park, where a ceilidh of Scottish and/or Irish music will follow.

On April 1, the festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue into the evening. Competitions will include athletics, bagpipe playing and highland dancing; while entertainment will involve Celtic bands and Irish dancers. This grand local tradition is not to be missed. The address is 1920 Pinehurst Road.

Festival of Community Bands

Head down to Highlander Park on April 8, when you can attend the Pinellas Festival of Community Bands. This free concert will feature the Dunedin Concert Band, Second Time Arounders Marching Band and the St. Petersburg Community band. The music starts at 3 p.m.

Dunedin Band Concert

Another concert will be held on April 21, this time at the Dunedin Community Center. The local band will present favorite tunes from Disney movies for the audience’s listening and dancing pleasure. Admission is free, but a donation of $10 is recommended. It begins at 7:30 p.m.
