Blue Jay RV Resort is a short drive from lovely Colt Creek State Park. It is an ideal spot for hiking, biking and horseback riding, as well as fishing, kayaking and canoeing.

Studies show spending time in nature is physically and emotionally therapeutic, so you’ll want to plan frequent outings to the park. Exercising in the fresh air is energizing, while the sights and sounds of a wooded area are relaxing.

Bring along a camera, so you can snap shots of the array of birds, wildlife and butterflies that make the area their home. Species of resident birds include the bald eagle, eastern bluebird, meadowlark, black-bellied whistling duck and swallow tail kite. In addition, you may catch a glimpse of whitetail deer, raccoons, squirrels and alligators.

A picnic is a must. You can choose to rent a pavilion, which is equipped with a charcoal grill, or you can bring sandwiches to eat at one of the picnic tables on the grounds.

The park is open year-round from 8 a.m. to sundown. Admission is $4 per vehicle. Canoe rentals are $8 for the first two hours, and pavilion rentals are $50 to $125 per day.
