Coastal Maryland Camping in Berlin

October 6, 2017

By Mary West

A stay in Berlin, MD is a treat, indeed; as it has many historic homes, antique shops, galleries and specialty stores. Come to Castaways RV Resort & Campground and see why the town is considered one of the best small communities to visit.

Assateague State Park

A mere 8 miles from Berlin, Assateague State Park is on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Sinepuxent Bay. The beautiful beaches, marshes and pine forests make it a great place for swimming, fishing, biking, kayaking and hiking. Those who delight in wildlife will enjoy seeing the birds and wild horses that make their home here. Be sure and stop at the Visitor Center.

Access to the beach and parking lot is available daily from 7 a.m. to sunset. The address is 7307 Stephen Decatur Highway.

Calvin Taylor House Museum

Dating back to the early nineteenth century, the Calvin Taylor House Museum is a quaint depository packed with interesting items and information. The bottom floor shows the living area, which is decorated with period furnishings; while the top floor is the county museum, filled with memorabilia from a broad timespan.

It’s open through the end of October from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The address is 208 North Main Street in Berlin.

Castaways RV Resort

Our Maryland RV park is on the shoreline, an advantage that makes it ideal for ocean views and water sports. Its special perks include live entertainment and shuttle buses, as well as an onsite café and snack bar.
