Christmas is coming, and soon we will enjoy the holiday traditions we hold dear. Residents of Glen Haven RV Resort can make the 25-mile drive to Tampa to experience the sights and sounds of the season.

Tampa Tree Lighting Ceremony

On December 2, head down to the Curtis Hixson Waterfront Park in Downtown Tampa for the community tree lighting. Bring your lawn chairs, so you can listen to holiday music played by Late Night Brass, a 10-piece horn band. After the tree lighting, you can watch the movie A Christmas Story. Admission is free. The festivities begin at 6 p.m.

Holiday Music Concert

Do you love Christmas music performed by a choir? Who doesn’t! Attending the concert of the University of South Florida choral department on November 28 will be a nice way to launch your seasonal festivities and put you in the holiday spirit. The choir will sing classic favorites as well as music from past historical periods. Admission is $15, and the event will be held in the college’s concert hall. Hours are from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Christmas Parade

The waterfront park in Tampa will be the scene of the annual Christmas Parade on December 3. Join the locals as they watch colorful floats, crazy characters and marching bands go down the street. It starts at 11 a.m., but you are encouraged to arrive by 9 a.m. to get a good viewing spot. After the parade, you’ll want to attend Santa Fest, an gala that will involve entertainment, games and crafts. The activities will end at 4 p.m.
