Batter up! Summer is softball season--time for the Babe Ruth League Softball World Series to roll in to town, hosted by the Treasure Coast Athletic Association. Bob and I have a vested interest in going this year as some of the younger grandkids will be fielding grounders and shagging fly balls during week two of the tournament. We have all of our game-watching gear ready for action--sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and cheering voices! We are planning to go to a game or two this week to get a feel for how it will run next week, so Grandma and Grandpa are "in the know" and navigate the tournament with ease. I like that I can keep tabs on any changes and learn more about the teams via the Babe Ruth Softball and TCAA Sports Facebook pages.
We also know if any of us need a break between games--whether we are at either of the two tournament sites, Jensen Beach or Stuart--we can make the quick trip home to Ocean Breeze Resort for snacks, AC, and Wi-Fi. We are hoping to take a break from the sound of cracking bats and spirited umpires to wander through Jammin' Jensen on Thursday, so the kids can hear some good music, eat some great food, and get some unique souvenirs from the many local artists and businesses. It's always a good time! The big and little kids always look forward to visiting us here since everyone can find something that interests them from the many offerings and amenities the resort provides. It is a far cry from when we used to sit on plastic-covered furniture and be "seen and not heard" at my grandma's house, let me tell you--I truly enjoy the laughter, smiles, and energy that come from quality time spent here with our active family.
Speaking of active, since I know we have more visits on our "Park & Play" I was looking to the months ahead to see what might bring us back for another stay or two. Progress continues to be made on the new pool and lifestyle center, so I know we have to come back to enjoy all that will offer--the heated pools, fitness center, and clubhouse are sure to be the sprinkles on the icing of the cake that is Ocean Breeze Resort. I also saw that Stuart has a craft festival in September, and in November we can attend the Jensen Beach Pineapple Festival and the Stuart Air Show. Both the Pineapple Festival and the Air Show--besides providing some seriously awesome entertainment!--give back to the local area in big ways, so I definitely want to be a part of that contribution to my neighbors and community.
It is so nice to have so much to look forward to--and such a lovely place in which to enjoy it. Close enough to make every trip a convenient one, yet when we come home we feel like we are in our own little paradise. Well, I better wrap this up as Bob and I are going to go outside now and play a little catch with the neighbor's children--we want to be good and ready for the grandkids next week. I threw a pretty mean fastball back in the day...might have to slip some heat to Bob, just to keep him on his toes.
