February was another very busy month at Big Tree RV Resort. There is so much going on here! The happy round of activities included dances, shows and potlucks, as well as pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners and trips to Broadway Palms in Fort Myers for dinner and shows.
Several flea markets are a drivable distance from Big Tree RV Resort. They might be good places to pick up some last-minute Christmas gifts. In any case, such enterprises are fun for treasure hunting.
You won’t find a dull moment at Big Tree RV Resort. Come be a part of our community of residents who celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving and other holidays together. We also gather often during the week for a host of enjoyable activities and games.
One of the many reasons to visit Big Tree is that we are home to a vibrant quilting community, where the members use their skills and talents to help local charities. Another is that Purple Martins flock here every winter, creating a source of delight to our resident bird lovers.
Big Tree RV Resort has already had an eventful year with a Valentine’s Dance and balloon release, and they’re planning much more this spring.
Named for the lovely, oak trees shading our 55 plus retirement community, it’s the perfect spot for those relaxing lawn chairs and a day of grilling.
Big Tree will have a booth at Veteran’s Park here in Arcadia on March 28 to support Relay for Life, an annual event to raise money for all forms of cancer research. We will have many of Big Tree residents taking time to walk during the 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. time frame for this event. Money is also being raised with a couple of raffles – one raffle prize is a baby quilt made by one of our residents who made it for her granddaughter last year. The granddaughter asked if she could donate it as a raffle prize for Big Tree’s Relay for Life. There will also be a large “John Deere” basket that one of our residents made up as a raffle prize as well. The Big Tree Booth will have pie and coffee for a dollar for those participating in the event at Veteran’s Park. All proceeds are going to Relay for Life.
Also, in February we are having our annual Valentine’s Dinner/Show and Dance on February 13. The Mardi Gras Parade of decorated golf carts and bicycles will be held followed by a dance outside at the Gazebo. Sun’s Got Talent preliminary competition for Big Tree residents will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at 3:00 p.m. The winner will participate in the Grand Finale competition of Sun’s Got Talent on March 24, at The Lakeland Center in Lakeland, Florida. Grand prize winner will win $5,000!! On February 25 Suncoast Blood Bank will hold their annual RV Challenge with 12 resorts in the Arcadia area participating to see who will generate the greatest number of blood donors from their respective resort to win the Challenge.
